What is Parent Coaching?
A parent coach is a certified professional who helps you cultivate a better relationship with your children. Focusing on attachment and relational research and training, a parent coach works alongside a parent to build a reflective understanding of their relationship with their children.
All of us come to parenting with the deep learning we experienced by being parented. Sometimes, though, with cultural shifts and new research, the old ways can seem confusing and even contrary to what is being discussed in parenting spaces today. Discussing your journey as a parent with a trained professional can be helpful to build awareness about old traditions that are worthy of supporting, and new research. The research is clear that reflective parents are good for children! It is within this space that choices and growth can occur.
A parent coach can help with understanding the needs of children throughout their developmental stages. Behavior is communication, but behavior can be really tricky to decode. Working with a parent coach can help individuals and families learn how to read the unspoken language of behavior.
Parent coaching is a forward-looking discussion, stays in the present, seeks to educate and does not diagnose. Parent coaching is not therapy.
Parent coaching uses tools and the most current research to help you parent your unique child. Parenting is a journey and parent coaching believes that the journey can be deepened and valuable throughout the life cycle of any individual.
Parent Coaching may be helpful for you if you feel or experience the following:
My child's behavior is tricky for me to understand.
Why is my child's behavior stressing me so much?
I feel "all alone" in my parenting journey.
I feel confused and frustrated between the older generation and the younger generation in my family.
Does supporting your child with their big emotions feel like too much?
Is it hard to stand firmly in your parenting decisions?
Is parenting a conflict between yourself and your co-parent?
Does your child sometimes feel like a mystery to you?
