About Birch Therapy

An intimate psychotherapy practice for all ages on the developmental timeline promoting emotional health; proudly providing services in the space of change across the Raleigh, NC region since 2010.

Healing can only happen in connection to other people, so we meet you & your family exactly where you are with healing hospitality and a tailored approach for optimized emotional growth and well-being.

Child & Family Services

We offer thoughtful, developmentally responsive therapy for children, teens, and families. Every child is different, so we match treatment to their needs, personality, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Play Therapy

Play is a child’s natural language. In play therapy, children use toys, art, movement, storytelling, and imagination to express feelings, process experiences, and build emotional resilience in a safe therapeutic relationship. Play therapy can be especially helpful for: Anxiety, Trauma or stressful life events, Big emotions or meltdowns, Behavioral concerns, Grief and loss, Family transitions, and Difficulty expressing feelings with words.

Child Counseling with Play-Based Approaches

Some children benefit from more structured therapy while still engaging through games, creativity, and hands-on activities. We often integrate playful, age-appropriate methods into evidence-based therapy to help children learn and grow. This may include support through modalities such as CBT for kids. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps children and teens understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact. Sessions are adapted to fit developmental level and may include interactive tools, visuals, games, or practical strategies. CBT can help with: Anxiety, OCD, Depression, Perfectionism, School avoidance, and Stress management.

Parent Support & Coaching

Parents are an important part of a child’s progress. We partner with caregivers to strengthen connection, improve routines, respond to challenging behaviors, and support emotional growth at home.

Parent support may focus on: Behavior strategies, Co-regulation tools, Parenting through anxiety, Neurodivergent-affirming supports, School and routine challenges, and Family communication.

Teen Therapy

Teens need a space that feels respectful, collaborative, and real. We help adolescents navigate identity, emotions, relationships, school pressures, and mental health concerns.

Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

We support autistic children, ADHDers, and other neurodivergent youth through strengths-based, affirming care that honors individual needs rather than trying to “fix” who they are.

Not Sure What Your Child Needs?

That’s okay. You don’t need to know the right modality before reaching out. We’ll help match your family with a therapist and approach that fits your child’s needs. And if we don’t have the right fit, we happily refer you to our colleagues in the area who are trusted, vetted, and qualified.

Driven by my personal experience on the “therapist hunt,” along with a deep understanding of raising neurodivergent kiddos, I recognized a significant gap in the quality of mental health services tailored for the whole family. Our therapists in Raleigh, NC specialize in supporting the hard. My commitment to this work comes from the belief that when families feel supported together, they can overcome obstacles and achieve greater emotional wellness. We get it
